'Five Nights At Freddy's' was speculated to feature more than just the main antagonist Freddy Fazbear. His bandmates Bonnie and Chica were also rumored to make an appearance on-screen.
It was previously reported that director Gil Kenan would like to create real animatronics for the film's robotic villains instead of using special effects to make them come to life on the big screen. The FNAF video games have 12 main characters in the series including the titular Freddy Fazbear. The animatronic brown bear that is most active in darkness is the main antagonist that forcefully stuffs any humans he captures inside the building after-hours into a suit that kills them.
According to Design & Trend, Freddy's bandmates Bonnie and Chica were teased for the film in Kenan's social media accounts. Kenan posted a photograph of party supplies on his Instagram account. It featured smiling cupcakes - very suggestive of a Chica tease as this character is known for carrying a cupcake in the game. She is an animatronic chicken with a bib and teeth sticking out from her beak.
Another photo was posted of a man in a bunny suit playing with children - indicative of a Bonnie tease as well. Bonnie is a lavender rabbit animatronic that plays guitar for Freddy's band. He is known to return to the office location in the game more frequently than the other characters. Kenan's posts may not directly hint at the official appearance of game creator Scott Cawthon's original characters but they seemed interesting enough to arouse more speculations from fans.
In another article by Touch Arcade, Kenan was said to admit to not merely focusing on Freddy but the other animatronics as well. He stated that he aims to create real, life-sized animatronics instead of CGI. He may not be sticking to FNAF's game plots but he was interested in keeping the mythology behind the games as he wanted to make a movie that appeals to other audiences besides gamer fans.
According to News Everyday, producers are actively collaborating with Cawthon for the Warner Bros. live-action adaptation however, they may not be sticking to the original story line. Producer Seth Graham-Smith said, "We're looking forward to working with Scott to make an insane, terrifying and weirdly adorable movie." Cawthon himself also stated, "The story really lends itself to being a movie, and it taps into a largely unexplored niche of horror that a lot of people will be able to relate to."
'Five Nights At Freddy's' is an upcoming horror film inspired by the popular independent point-and-click horror survival game of the same name that recently released its fourth and final installation in the game series. It is most famous for its homicidal animatronic animals and simplistic gameplay.
