'The Justice League - Part 1' leading man Henry Cavill revealed his training and diet regime for his role as Superman in the DC extended universe. He also confirmed the pre-production schedule for the upcoming superhero team-up in January.

According to Movie News Guide, the British actor has reportedly gone on a strict diet for his superhero role in DC's live-action films slated to hit theaters very soon starting with 'Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice' in 2016. He said that he wanted the character to stay lean and not be a bulked up man on the big-screen. This, for him, looks like a real superhero.

In another article by ComicBook.com, Cavill went on 'The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon' to promote his film, 'The Man from U.N.C.L.E.', a reboot of the popular television series from the '60s where he plays the spy Napoleon Solo. Eventually, the interview flipped over to his work with the DC extended universe. He then went on to talk about a short diet and workout plan for Superman.

Cavill admitted that he loves the casual drink once in a while and goes back and forth between his "off season" body and an on-screen physique. He said, "Okay, depends. If I'm mass building I'll eat burgers and stuff." When asked by the host whether he does cardiovascular training, Cavill said that he runs but didn't elaborate further.

The actor also revealed that pre-production for 'The Justice League - Part 1' film will begin in January 2016 just two months before 'Batman v Superman' debuts in theaters, according to Tech Times.

Although no further announcements have confirmed the film's actual storyline, it's been assumed that it will feature several superheroes from the comic books teaming up to defend humanity. Cavill will be reprising his role as Superman, Ben Affleck will be back as Batman, and newcomer Gal Gadot will be portraying Wonder Woman.

In addition to the core cast, Jason Momoa and Ray Fisher will make their debut as Aquaman and Cyborg respectively and Amy Adams will return as Lois Lane as well. 'Justice League - Part 1' is scheduled to be released on November 17, 2017 with Zack Snyder as director.
