"Thor: Ragnarok" Update: Disney To Film Third Installment Or 'Captain Marvel' In Chris Hemsworth's Hometown?

By

"Thor: Ragnarok" will reportedly be shooting in Australia where Chris Hemsworth is currently residing with his family. It seems like Disney had a successful production for "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales" that the studio's offshoot Marvel Studios will film either "Thor: Ragnarok" or "Captain Marvel" in the Land Down Under.

Marvel movies were mostly filmed in other countries. "Iron Man 3" is noted to have commenced its official production in China while "Avengers: Age of Ultron" filmed in several countries like Italy and the U.K. On the other hand, the first Phase Three movie, "Captain America: Civil War", has reportedly wrapped production in Berlin, Germany.

According to a 'Pirates 5' technical specialist, who has not given his identity, the heads of production had a great experience in the whole year of filming in Australia. They are now reportedly planning on bringing out one of the Marvel films in the same country. He added that it was a great experience for the studio being able to be familiarized with the set-up at Village Roadshow (pictures) and the crews at the location. He also said that the production team was also able to work across a lot of different locations which has saved them scouting for the Marvel movie.

Other reports say that there is a financial reason behind why Disney would opt to film in Australia. It is reportedly a cost-cutting strategy in their part, aside from the fascinating scenery the country features. The Australian dollar may allow the studios to do more, considering the equivalent of its currency. It was noted that 1 USD is roughly a dollar and 40 cents in Australia.

If the reports are true. then this will also be great news for "Thor" actor Chris Hemsworth who was borne in Byron Bay and still a current resider of the country. The shooting location is rumored to be an hour drive away for his family's residence. If Disney and Marvel really consider Australia for production, then "Thor: Ragnarok" might start as early as March 2016 and sometime in 2017 for 'Captain Marvel.

"Thor: Ragnarok" is slated for a November 3, 2017 release, with "Captain Marvel" following on November 2, 2018.
