‘The Hateful Eight’ Update: Quentin Tarantino Says Jennifer Lawrence Could Have Been Daisy Domergue in Upcoming Western Film

By

"The Hateful Eight" director Quentin Tarantino says he is a fan of Jennifer Lawrence. He revealed that the "Hunger Games: Mockingjay -Part 2" actress could have played the part of Daisy Domergue, the film's only heroine, until Jennifer Jason Leigh comes in. His upcoming Western flick is scheduled for release on Christmas day.

In an interview with Vulture, Quentin Tarantino cited the 25-year-old star as another potential actress that could have played the heroine's part in the upcoming movie. "I could have seen Jennifer Lawrence doing a good job with the role," he said. "I'm a very big fan of hers. I think she could end up being another little Bette Davis if she keeps on going the way she's going."

Lawrence is known to have bagged an Oscar for her performance in David O. Russell's "Silver Lining", becoming the second youngest Best Actress Academy Award winner. However, she gained international fame for her roles as Mystique in "X-Men" and Katniss Everdeen in the "Hunger Games" franchise.

Despite her critically acclaimed performances, the filmmaker imagined the movie's character being older than the actress which is where 53-year-old Jennifer Jason Leigh comes in. According to the filmmaker, not only did Jason Leigh's age suited the role, her acting was also "really good" when she auditioned. "She had to act like she got shot, and she just screamed bloody murder", he said. "I kept remembering Jennifer's bloodcurdling scream. If it had happened in a house, somebody would have called the cops," People reports.

As previously reported, "The Hateful Eight" follows a gun-toting group of eight who are forced to take refuge in a mountain lodge after a vicious blizzard hits the area. Apart from Jason Leigh, the film also stars Samuel L. Jackson ("Avengers "), Kurt Russell ("Furious 7"), Michael Madsen ("Sin City"), Tim Roth ('Selma"), Walton Giggins ("Django Unchained"), Bruce Dern ("Nebraska "), and Demian Bichir ("Savages").The upcoming Civil War-era pic is slated to be released in 70mm on December 25, to be followed by a digital release on January 8th.

Meanwhile, the fans may not see Lawrence as the Western heroine in Tarantino's gun-toting flick. But they can catch her in another bold performance as the Mockingjay when the final installment of the "Hunger Games" franchise opens on November 20.
