LG Mobile is slated to get ahead of the pack as it has been planning out to skip the last Lollipop update to the Android 6.0 Marshmallow. The Marshmallow update comes with a bunch of new features and improvements from Android Lollipop.
LG's flagship devices G4, G3, and G2 are bound for a major Android treat with Marshmallow as the final developer preview of Android 6.0 is already confirmed for a late September kick-start rollout. Although LG most devices of the South Korean tech firm still run older Android software versions like 4.4.4 KitKat, 5.0 Lollipop, 5.0.2 Lollipop and 5.1 Lollipop.
In Greece, a tech site revealed that LG is skipping the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop and proceed to Marshmallow. Everything remains unconfirmed however for LG but sources are firm that it will come to that much-anticipated rollout.
As shown in developer preview versions of Marshmallow in Nexus 5, Nexus 6, Nexus 9 and Nexus Player, the new Android software will bring in exciting features and enhancements from Lollipop. Here's a quick view of Android 6.0 Marshmallow's much-anticipated sweet treats.
- Android Pay. While Samsung is releasing earlier today its own Samsung Pay, Google is replacing Google Wallet with Android Pay to counter famed mobile payment service Apple Pay. Android Pay operates using both near-field communication (NFC) and host card emulation method without even the use of an online app. Android Pay will be pre-installed on devices supported by AT&T, T-Mobile, Sprint, and Verizon Wireless.
- App Links. Called Intents, users are now capable of directing to other software or sites using a link from a certain location. By clicking the link, the device will show a notification whether he wants to go on with the redirecting process.
- Improved Chrome Tabs. Google is also improving Chrome experience by adding web views of an app, plus customizations in color themes, font, sign-in process, and more.
- Fingerprint Sensor Support. To realize the Android Pay transactions, fingerprint sensor support is added. This feature is applicable to a good number of phones through a standard API coming with the sensor.
- USB Type-C support. If the device is supported by Type-C USB, users can enjoy the all-in-on port for projecting display, charging and other usages.
- App Permissions. With Marshmallow, app permissions will send notifications to users whether they would want to proceed to a certain action. App permissions has eight inclusions like contacts, camera, and location, among others.
- Battery Management. Battery saver Doze automatically manages background running process. It can be activated via an alarm and priority notifications.
