Transformers 5 Update: Principal photography to begin next year; Sequel to get 2 directors, confirms Mark Ryan

By

Transformers 5 is in the works, and new reports suggest that the story may move away from the events of the previous film. Also, Mark Ryan who voiced Jetfire and Lockdown in the previous films revealed juicy details about the upcoming film's directors and filming.

Paramount invested heavily for the upcoming film, and even created a writers room, a method that is mostly used for television shows, for its plot development. According to Collider, the pool of writers consisted of Akiva Goldsman as the head writer along with Zak Penn, Jeff Pinker, Art Marcum, Matt Holloway, Robert Kirkman, Andrew Barrer, Gabriel Ferran, Christina Hodson, Lindsey Beer, Ken Nolan, Geneva Robertson-Dworet, and Steven S. Deknight.

According to DeKnight, the writers room went well, and even described it as the best writers room he has seen. "We spent two and a half weeks in best - psychically, the best writers' room I've ever seen in my life. Paramount pulled out all the stops. It was phenomenal.", DeKnight said.

"We laughed, and joked, and told stories and plotted out - I can't say what we plotted out, but it was all very exciting. In the next few months we'll see what moves forward and what doesn't move forward. It was a fantastic experience", he added.

The upcoming film's plot is currently under wraps, but as reported by Movie Pilot, it might head to a different direction, away from Age of Extinction. The fourth film in the franchise reportedly grossed the lowest and was given an 18% rating in Rotten Tomatoes, thus, Paramount may consider having changes in the upcoming film.

While it has not been officially confirmed yet whether or not Michael Bay will return to sit in the director's chair, a change is to be expected in the upcoming film's directorial position. As reported by Movie News Guide, Mark Ryan recently revealed that two directors will be helming Transformers 5.

Although the names of the directors were not revealed, Ryan said that one of the directors will focus on Cade and co. Also, according to Ryan, filming for the upcoming movie is scheduled to begin next year.

No specific release date has been officially announced for Transformers 5 yet, however, more details are expected to be revealed in the coming months.
