On Tuesday, a day before the end of Star Trek Beyond's Omaze campaign, a new short video clip has emerged on Facebook. It was about Simon Pegg, Star Trek Beyond's screenwriter, encouraging more donors that could possibly join and win exclusive prizes and tickets for the "Star Trek Beyond" film.
Thousands of viewers have shown their support on the official Facebook fan page of Star Trek upon the upload of the short clip.
However, everyone who joined and donated could be lucky enough to win the opportunity to be a part of the Star Trek Beyond. For those who will win, they could possibly take two Premiere night tickets, the Star Trek captain's chair with "the smell of Chris Pine's behind" or the chance to join the Star Trek Beyond on set.
But on the other hand, according to a report on Entertainment Weekly, on-set bloopers of a few behind-the-scenes is offered for those who donated but did not win. Pegg also took the chance to thank everyone who supported the campaign for a cause. In the video, a collection of small outtake clips was also shown.
As seen on the near ending part of the video, a man carrying a sculptured head of an alien race walked up, pauses for a second and backed off as if nothing happened. In an article on Cinemablend, the structure seemed to be rooted from a similar character in "Star Trek: Voyager", mainly Neelix of the Talixians.
Although the aliens are somewhat similar with the head raised area lined towards the skull and the cheekbones, there are also some quite obvious differences like the absence of hair, the skin color, and the ears.
Hence, many fans are intrigued of the possible appearance of a new character in the movie or the evolution of another alien race. In addition, the appearance of a dog in the video clip can also be of another character or could she possibly be the substitute of Captain Kirk? No one still knows.
"She's actually going to be playing Kirk," Anton Yelchin said.
The Star Trek Beyond campaign has ended on Sept 02, 2015. The campaign is one of the marketing strategies used by the Star Trek production team to raise awareness and excitement for the upcoming movie. And at the same time, it was a fundraising project. The funds collected will be donated to the nine chosen charities.
