'Allegiant: Part 1' Update: Theo James, Shailene Woodley Insist Sticking With Book's Ending; David To Appear in the Upcoming Sequel

David from the Bureau of Genetic Warfare is likely to be included in the upcoming "Allegiant Part 1". Despite the fans' petition for a different ending, franchise leads Theo James and Shailene Woodley insist on sticking to Tris' fate as written in the last book.

As reported by Yibada, David might appear in the upcoming film given the character's pivotal role in the book. Aside from David, the Bureau of Genetic Warfare is also reported to play an important part in the sequel. The report cites that scenes of Four and Tris' first date, as well as Tris' reading of her mom's journal are also likely to be featured, given its memorable impact to the readers.

Tris' fate in the book will reportedly be adapted to the film, despite fans' petition for a new and happier ending. As for James and Woodley, Movie News Guide reports that the two already agreed on Tris' fate in the conclusion of the book series.

"I think that it's a beautiful decision that Veronica made. I mean, how often is it that somebody you really admire and who does take selfless risks everyday ends up living," Woodley said. Her co-star James even agreed of the character's ending as it reportedly implies self-sacrifice. According to him, it would be strange to see Tris and Four get a happy ending after what they went through.

James and Woodley both demonstrate great chemistry on screen which helped pull a larger following other than the books' admirers. Although they previously admitted their admiration to each others' professionalism, another report from Yibada states that James' girlfriend Ruth Kearney no longer wants to see the two in the big screen together after the Divergent series. However, Kearney has not revealed her side of the issue yet.

Allegiant: Part 1 is directed by Robert Schwentke from the book series by Veronica Roth. Aside from Woodley and James, the film also stars Miles Teller, Zoe Kravitz, Naomi Watts, Ansel Elgort, and Jonny Weston. It is set to hit theaters in March 18, 2016.
