NBA 2K16 News: Massive gameplay details on NEW play types, improved A.I. Drive Logic, game's Physics, Adaptive Coaching Engine, and more revealed

As NBA 2K16 is just a couple of weeks away from its big official release date, 2K Sports has confirmed a generous amount of new and exciting gameplay features that fans will see in the game come September 29. Massive details on the improvement to play-calling, offenses, play types and to the game over-all.

Via a blog post from game developer Da_Czar, Operation Sports noted that one of the significant changes made to NBA 2K16 is an improved the A.I.'s drive logic. Unlike NBA 2K15, the computer will not be aware of its surroundings.

The game developer explains this new feature in the said post:

"For NBA 2K16, we completely re-wrote our Drive Logic to work hand in hand with our 1 v 1 attack module. In what will become a common theme, we gave the A.I. fundamental basketball reads on which to base its drive decisions.

The A.I. is aware of pull up, runner/floater, and layup distances. We use a touch down to check down philosophy so he is constantly aware of if the paint is open or clogged."

"We even have the A.I. check for the presence of shot blockers and allow that to play a role in its decision to drive. This happens for both regular drive attempts and when the A.I. is attacking using a pick and roll. Our A.I. also looks to punish defenders going under screens against guys who can stroke the three."

This simply means that when playing defense versus players like Carmelo Anthony, gamers will be pushed to guard him all over the court.

The other new feature revealed for the next title to the NBA 2K series is the Adaptive Coaching Engine (ACE) and this time, the computer will alter its play style for each team.

Again, the developer further elaborated this latest addition to the game and said that ACE can update the play style for a team each moment the team players are in possession of the ball. Such style will enable a flexible per possession distribution of the offense..

"ACE is able to make fluid tempo adjustments during the course of a game. For the Charlotte Hornets, If a play is called for Kemba Walker we can enable early offense for that possession. However, if the play call is for Al Jefferson, the A.I. can select the walk it up tempo to ensure we get the ball inside," desribes the blog post. "ACE can allow the A.I. to alternate between set plays and any applicable freelance offense so that play repetition becomes a non-issue."

Also, new player roles like pick and roll point, pick and roll wing, and pick and roll ball-handler are included in NBA 2K16. .

Design & Trend added that 2K Sports includes what Mike Wang called "Bringing The Game To Life." Wang said that the 2K team rewrote the motion system to let players to read what they're attempting to do and whether they are part of the play or not.

Finally, a big improvement that will delight the hardcore basketball fans is the changes made to the game's ball and rim physics. Gamers will see long rebounds, rim rattlers on made and missed jumpers and lots of other ball to rim interactions. There is also a rework on game's foot planting where players get to feel more grounded when cutting, posting up or pivoting.

NBA 2K16 official release date is set on September 29 and arrives on Xbox One, PS4, PS3, Xbox 360, and PC platforms.
