Jessica Alba has been hit by a $5 Million lawsuit alleging her company of offering products containing synthetic ingredients. The suit also claims their popular sunscreen is ineffective. The actress and entrepreneur broke her silence in an open letter that defends her company and her products.

Facing the suit filed by Jonathan D. Rubin at the District Court of Northern California in San Francisco, the "Sin City" actress released her defense via Pret-a-Reporter on Friday, Sept.4.

"I started The Honest Company to develop safe and effective products not just for my children, but for families everywhere. I am very proud that we have built this company into an industry leader focused on using natural ingredients and developing products that people love. The allegations against us are baseless and without merit. We strongly stand behind our products and the responsibility we have to our consumers," the 34-year-old elf-made millionaire said. "We are steadfast in our commitment to transparency and openness."

Alba's Honest Company went under fire this month after photos of customers complaining about the company's sunscreen (which is currently sold out) with SPF30 went viral. The customers allegedly complained of the product's ineffectivity. Some said that their skin got burned after using it, according to refinery29.

Rubin particularly mentioned the products Honest Hand Soap, Honest Diapers and Honest Multi-Surface Cleaner in the case. He claims that the all-natural, the family-friendly product line Alba is marketing are "deceptively and misleadingly" labels, ET Canada reports.

Meanwhile, dermatologist and director of cosmetic and clinical research at Mt. Sinai Hospital Joshua Zeichner, MD defended the allegations thrown to the Honest Company. The doctor said that Zinc Oxide is an extremely effective sun-blocking ingredient, effective against UVB and UVA rays. Honest Company was able to pass the broad spectrum level.

In the midst of a lawsuit, Alba was recently proclaimed as one of the richest self-made women in the US even surpassing female celebrity Beyonce. Her Honest Company is now valued at $1.7 billion with her net worth skyrocketing to $350 million.

The "Fantastic Four" actress' recent statement could clear rumors troubling her $1.7 billion empire. What do you think of the allegations thrown sto her Honest Company?
