The Five Nights at Freddy's movie adaptation is under way and director Gil Kenan revealed that the animatronics will be filmed practically. Kenan has also been releasing photos and videos on his social media accounts which are believed to be set pieces and hints for the film.
Details about the upcoming film adaptation of the popular point-and-click game is presently scarce, however, Kenan previously confirmed that he plans to do away with CGI, and film practically. As reported by Yibada, Kenan chose practical filming because it adds a much scarier element, and even teased about getting the antagonistic animatronics done at Henson Creature Shop.
Aside from that, Kenan has also been teasing photos of set pieces during the past few months. According to Latin Post, in July, Kenan posted a photo of a working animatronic in his Instagram account. He also posted a photo of what seems to be the head of one of the animatronics in the games.
In August, Kenan also posted a photo of a test animatronic with a large snout, large robotic eye, and sharp white teeth. He also recently posted a photo of a Prize Center which is reportedly where Chuck E. Cheese can be found. In the games' story, this is the area where the animatronic hides and takes the souls of the dead children to later trap them in suits.
Kenan will serve as the director and writer of the upcoming movie, and will reportedly work with the games' creator, Scott Cawthon, in the process of creating the film. Kenan previously assured fans of his knowledge about the games by admitting that he has always been a big fan of the games. It was also previously reported that Warner Bros is aiming for a PG-13 rating for the upcoming film.
Release date, cast, and plot details are yet to be released, but reports suggest that the film is likely to focus less on the gore details and more on the suspense and anticipation as presented in the games. However, more official details are expected to be revealed as production for Five Nights at Freddy's movie adaptation progresses.
