StarCraft 2: Legacy of the Void will be released in December this year and the public will know that exact date for its official launch on September 13. Meanwhile, game producer revealed that his team is done with the final expansion and hinted that StarCraft 3 will be next.

Blizzard Entertainment will be hosting a livestream on September 13 at the official StarCraft Twitch TV channel revealing the new expansion's cinematic and official release date as well as discussing its features, as reported by IGN. The stream will start at 10 AM PDT.

Those who live in southern California can watch the event at the Blizzard Barcraft in downtown Los Angeles at the Theater at Ace Hotel which will be hosted by William "Chobra" Cho.

Blizzard writes on the game's official website:

An ancient evil threatens the fate of the entire galaxy, and only you can stop it. Join us, along with players around the world, and take part in the unveiling of all-new content for StarCraft 2: Legacy of the Void including:

  • World premiere of the cinematic and launch date reveal
  • A preview of what's to come in from StarCraft 2's senior developers
  • The thrilling conclusion to the StarCraft 2 WCS Season 3 Finals live from Poland

There is also an RSVP button at the website which is intended for those who want to join the Facebook event and so that the developer will know who wants to attend in person.

In earlier report, game producer Tim Morten stated that his team is already finished with the final StarCraft 2 expansion and he assured that there will be a discussion on what to work on next. Most likely is StarCraft 3 with all-new characters and his team may also revisit Warcraft franchise.

"It's very rewarding for us to hear that there's demand out there for more RTS content in the Warcraft universe," he said to IGN. "There's no question, though, that we'll consider Warcraft, StarCraft, or even new ideas. Anything is possible [but] we don't have any specific plans," Morten added.

Morten went on to fuel the excitement of fans when he confirmed that Legacy of the Void isn't the end of StarCraft franchise as the universe has plenty of potential stories to be told in the future.

StarCraft 2: Legacy of the Void was first announced at BlizzCon 2014 and it will be out this holiday season for PC and Mac OS X platforms. On March 31, a beta testing of the game was offered to a select few gamers.
