'Star Wars: Rogue One' spoilers: Mads Mikkelsen joins cast; Galen Marek to appear in the movie?

By

The Hannibal star, Mads Mikkelsen, has finally signed for a role in Star Wars: Rogue One. It was recently confirmed that he signed a poster with the word "Galen" beneath his autograph at FanExpo.

Aside from his signature, Mads Mikkelsen imitated the way Phil LaMarr, the person behind the voice of Kit Fisto in the "Clone Wars" animated series, signed the autograph with "Kit Fisto" under his name. So, if that's how it seems to be, then 'Galen' will be appearing in the movie, according to an article on SlashFilm.

Now, the poster seemingly gained so much speculation about his character. People believe that he will be playing as Galen Marek in the Rogue One. Comicbook explained why Galen seemed to be a familiar name to many. The name he wrote was unlikely coincidental with the name of a character in the video game, "The Force Unleashed."

In the video game, Galen is commonly known with his code name "Starkiller" who was raised and trained by Darth Vander. Darth Vander killed Galen's parents, who are a Jedi, and made Galen his secret apprentice. According to Cinemablend, Mikkelsen has declared in public that Galen is "not a bad guy" and not a good guy either.

During the Revelation of the Sith and A New hope, Galen Marek became a dark Jedi who followed the order of Emperor Palpatine to chase and kill other Jedi. But behind his villainous character, he played an important role in the formation of the Rebel Alliance and in the revolt of the Galactic Civil War. In fact, his family is under the official hallmark of the Rebellion.

According to the Rogue One director, Gareth Edwards, he won't focus much on the force and perchance, the powerful Jedi features will have a small role. Sources say that Mikkelsen could possibly be the leader of the Rebel Alliance in the film.

Meanwhile, Mads Mikkelsen is a Danish actor who starred in the TV Series "Hannibal" as Dr. Hannibal Lecter. This will be his first Star Wars break and assumingly, his character will also have its first appearance in the cinematic series. "Star Wars: Rogue One" will be out on December 16, 2016.
