Now that "Transformers: Devastation" is nearing its release, Activision decided to give away some pre-order bonus bundles to their patrons. Players who will place orders now and before the launch in October will receive three new character skins and will also have a chance to gain access to three new weapons.
Those who pre-order will possess three bonus weapons which include the Dark Sabre sword, the Photon Disruptor cannon, and Golden Hunter twin pistols, according to IGN. The "Transformers: Devastation" added character skins are Nemesis Prime, Red Alert, and Goldfire. Both Nemesis Prime and Red Alert had been seen in several "Transformers" episodes.
It's not yet disclosed, however, if these new character skins are more forceful than the common looks of the playable characters in "Transformers: Devastation", or if these innovations are merely superficial, said in an International Business Times report. Playable characters can be upgraded in the game, thus, it will be interesting to see if these skins will boost any attributes.
On the other hand, the three new weapons accessible for pre-orders were made sure by Platinum Games would have that unique-feel. Each weapon seems to have been produced solely for the pre-order character skins, though it also looks like these weapons may also equip any other character in this "Transformers" title.
The "Transformers" franchise had its initial major success when it was first introduced in the market as transforming-vehicle toys in 1984 in Japan developed by Takara, according to a MNR Daily report. Then on, Hasbro bought the rights for the toy line and created an animated TV series out of it.
Meanwhile, the video game had been having a different experience. It was badly hit early on when screenshots of the yet unnamed "Transformers" title leaked out before the official announcement of its release date in E3 in June. Its previous video game titles were said to be not that memorable. Its graphics had been both praised and criticized, for it adapted the '80s cartoon and anime feel. Although "Transformers" had been successful, first as a toy franchise and later on TV- and movie-wise, it is not to say that the video game will follow that same route.
But Activision/Platinum Games might have learned a lesson or two from its previous "Transformers" releases. The studio might even work harder this time around. The game is based on the most popular iterations of the characters - the first generation of G1 characters; but these classic designs were incorporated into a more modern game. And "Transformers: Devastation" is said to run in a stable 60 frames-per-second on PC and new-gen platforms. Players will just have to wait on its release on October 6.
