According to Variety, a new remake of Eli Roth's 2002 comedy-horror film of the same name will hit cinemas sometime on 2016. It was reported that IFC Midnight has recently bought the North American rights for the film. The script will be penned by Roth himself and Randy Pearlstein and it will be based on the original. The new film will be helmed by director Travis Zariwny.

In another article by Hit Fix, Zariwny expressed his enthusiasm over the new project which was said to have Roth on board as producer. He said, "It was a great opportunity to recreate an iconic film for a new generation of horror fans... I am a die hard fan of horror films and the king of horror Eli Roth trusted me to re-imagine his film. I was not going to fail."

Roth's original film followed five college students as they took to the woods to rent a cabin for a weekend of partying, according to Movie Web. However, a flesh-eating virus terrorizes the friends and brings an unexpected turn to their otherwise fun holiday. The 'Cabin Fever' reboot is said to employ basically the same script but with different characters.

New cast members include Gage Golightly of 'Teen Wolf', Dustin Ingram of 'Paranormal Activity 3', Matthew Daddario of 'Delivery Man', Samuel Davis of 'From Dusk Till Dawn: The Series', and Nadine Crocker of 'Deadgirl'. No official release date has been announced as of the present.
