'Underworld: Next Generation' has found its main villain in English actor Bradley James. He is the latest to join Kate Beckinsale, Theo James, and Tobias Menzies for the upcoming installment in the horror-action franchise. Fellow English actress Clementine Nicholson also gets her big break as a warrior named Lena.
In an article by Coming Soon, it was reported that Bradley James was recently cast as the franchise's newest primary antagonist. The 31-year old actor is best known for his portrayal of King Arthur in BBC's television series 'Merlin' as well as his work in 'iZombie', an American comedy-horror series taken from the DC comic books of the same name. He is also set to star as the titular haunted character in the upcoming drama-horror series 'Damien'.
The Screen Gems-Lakeshore collaboration will feature the return of Beckinsale and Theo James as main protagonists Selene and David respectively, according to Bloody Disgusting. Menzies has also confirmed involvement as a new Lycan leader called Marius. It was speculated previously that 'Underworld: Next Generation' will focus more on Eve, the daughter of Selene and hybrid partner Michael Corvin, as well as a younger set of vampires and werewolves.
According to Deadline, Nicholson is confirmed as to play Lena described as "the Nordic Coven's greatest warrior and daughter of Vidar". No other details have been released regarding the big-screen newcomer's role in the upcoming film. It was also reported that production will begin in Prague by October.
'Underworld: Next Generation' is the fifth installment in the popular action-horror franchise that first made its debut on big-screens worldwide back in 2003. Its predecessor, 'Underworld: Awakening', was released in 2012 and earned $160 million against a $70 million budget, according to Box Office Mojo. Although the movie panned among critics, it maintained its mainstream success with avid fans across the globe and is tagged as the highest-grossing film in the series.
