Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge and Galaxy S6 smartphones on Sprint, T-Mobile, US Cellular & Verizon are now surely heading to Android 6.0 Marshmallow very soon as all devices had just been updated to the final version of Android Lollipop. Meanwhile, AT&T is still stuck with Android 5.0.2 Lollipop software version.
Reports assume that major mobile carriers in the US Sprint, T-Mobile, US Cellular and Verizon are now preparing the Android 6.0 Marshmallow software to hit their Galaxy S6 Edge and Galaxy S6 units. As announced, Google has reported that the Marshmallow update is coming to select phones later this month or earlier in October.
On the other end, AT&T has still to upgrade yet to Android 5.1.1. However, it could also be possible that the carrier will jump off to Marshmallow.

To check the software version of the phone, just go to Home > Settings > About phone. Read the software version.
Android 6.0 Marshmallow will bring new features and improvements. Here's a peek of what to come for Marshmallow.
- Emergency calls automatically appears with the nearest contact center and current location. The dialer performs some notable actions when dialing 911 or other registered emergency number. When dialed, the name of the number will appear on the screen, covered on a GPS map of your current location.
- The new API level 23 introduces support to the fingerprint scanner for a better enrolment experience. It will also bring better error reporting, and enumeration support. The user-facing app permission controls and behaviors have been changed.
- A rotatable home screen will now function in landscape format for apps and home screen.
- The new app drawer removes the alphabetical divider and idle space at the end of some sections. This makes the drawer to more faster. A delete option to the screenshot has been added in the notification drawer.
- Status bar icons can be personalized based on favorites or frequency of use. Those who are idle apps for quite some time users will have the option to remove them.
Android 6.0 Marshmallow will also features a RAM manager, network settings reset option, storage overhaul, personalized Chrome tabs, supports for Android Pay and USB Type-C, app links, and a more.
