"Cold Horizon" Introduces Unlikely Heroes in Post-Apocalyptic Game, Launches Kickstarter, Steam Greenlight Campaigns

"Cold Horizon"- the post-apocalyptic exploration adventure by Big Cake Games - now has its campaign pages in Kickstarter and Steam Greenlight. The game highlights the bond between a polar bear and a mysteriously gifted boy who struggles to go past the frozen front both for their survival and the humanity's. It is planned to be released in 2016.

The action/adventure "Cold Horizon" will be split into five designed episodes with puzzle-solving and stealth elements, according to Entertainment Focus. The story centers on the adventures of an unlikely friendship between a polar bear named Eira and a young boy who has extraordinary faculties. The boy's gift happens to have an effect toward the world around him and this will pull them into danger as they are being hunted down as well. The boy will eventually be the symbol for hope and Eira becomes the boy's protector. They will journey through the "Cold Horizon" to survive and engage in quests to save humanity.

According to Cliqist, the story of "Cold Horizon" seemed to have shifted away from the typical post-apocalyptic games wherein a dead world presented nothing to prosper despite the survivors' best attempts. The lurid and depressing worlds being fostered in games like "Wasteland" and "Fallout" just seem to spur how pointless it is to survive in such an environment. And "Cold Horizon"'s entrance is like a breath of fresh air in this genre. The game brings forth hope, and that a better future is still ahead in the hands of two most unlikely heroes.

As the two protagonists journey together and their bond becomes tighter, they will unlock new powers and abilities to be able to continue with their struggle. Each episode in the "Cold Horizon" game will focus on each season. And within each new season, powers can or will be unlocked by the characters. Each chapter will deliver a strong narrative and is equally intertwined in the storyline.

According to the Kickstarter page for "Cold Horizon", the game has legendary boss battles and to survive the elements, players have to scavenge resources. Gamers can navigate landscapes as Eira by running, jumping, climbing, and swimming to proceed in each obstacle. The boy's unique abilities change upon season and can be used when solving puzzles in the game.

"Cold Horizon" is being developed by the same team behind the proposed "Metal Gear X" remake. This group is composed of passionate gamers who had previously worked in Ubisoft, Insane Games, and Konami. It was on March 12 when Big Cake Games first released an information regarding "Cold Horizon". It was here that they had shared some details on the game's plot, gameplay, visuals, and enemies.

And on April 14, the Indie developer launched the game's trailer and website. It was stated here, also, that they will create a campaign in Kickstarter to raise funds for "Cold Horizon". The teaser trailer was launched on August 22 - which gave a peek at its first gameplay footage and the engaging soundtrack. Once relevant stretch goals are met, "Cold Horizon" will be hopefully be in Xbox One, PS4, PS Vita, and Nintendo consoles as well.
