Wilmer Valderrama has landed the role of Prince Charming in the forthcoming animated musical fairy tale "Charming." He will be voicing the lead male role opposite to his real-life girlfriend Demi Lovato who will play the role of Lenore.
The Latin Prince Charming will give diversity to the typical animated movies which are usually invaded by sculpted and gorgeous looking white male for the lead roles. Joining Valderrama are "High School Musical" star Ashley Tisdale as Cinderella, pop punk princess Avril Lavigne as Snow White and Chinese pop star G.E.M. as Sleeping Beauty. Lovato is the only one of the four female leads who is not a recognizable princess. She will reportedly be the person that this Prince Charming is going to fall for in the film.
The new animated film "Charming" will poke fun of the generic princesses the fans knew in the fairytale movies. What happens when the iconic fairytale princesses -Cinderella, Snow White, and Sleeping Beauty -find out that the handsome, regal, and noble Prince they are engaged with is the same "Prince Charming, is slated to be presented in the musical.
The movie will be directed by writer-director Ross Venokur with Lovato executive producing the film's score. According to John H. Williams, who is producing the film with fellow 3QU Media co-founder Henry Skelsey, Valderrama had everything the film production were looking for while they were contemplating who to cast as this version of Prince Charming: irresistible charm, perfect comedic timing and a lot of heart.
"We've all been waiting so long to see a Latin princess represented in an animated fairy tale," Valderrama says. He added that he is grateful to the enlightened producer John Williams for anointing him as the first Latin prince.
Valderrama is a regular star of "From Dusk Till Dawn" and he voiced the title role on Disney's toon series Handy Manny. He is "That 70's Show" alum and will also star in the new Fox drama "Minority Report." Apart from this musica, Disney has announced that it has its very own, live-action Prince Charming-centric movie in the works as well.
