Channing Tatum is the lead star for the upcoming "Gambit" movie which is set to be shown on October 7, 2016. However, 20th Century Fox loses its director, Rupert Wyatt. Rupert says he is unable to commit anymore due to conflict of schedules on other projects.
Hollywood Reporter shares that the Channing Tatum's "Gambit" movie will have big shoes to fill. This is because "Rise of the Planet of the Apes" director Rupert Wyatt needed to leave the project. Initially, a shooting schedule about Mardi Gras was an issue. The motion picture is said to be very significant for 20th Century Fox with the hope of making it at par with "Wolverine" starred by Hugh Jackman. The movie is based on co-creator's Chris Claremont character with Josh Zetumer as screenwriter. Producers are Reid Carolin, Lauren Shuler Donner, Simmon Kinberg and Channing Tatum himself.
According to Cinema Blend the X-Men spinoff was set to start production this November. But due to unforeseen circumstances and series of events it was moved to March 2016. The report gives other speculations as to why Rupert Wyatt had to let go of the helm on the "Gambit" movie. Changes in the script, increased budget costs and Channing Tatum's lofty salary concerns have created differences of opinion. But sources from Wyatt's side say that it is "simply an issue of timing." The push back of the production schedule caused a conflict with "another project." Discreetly, Wyatt and the people under him wouldn't delve into the details about the other project.
In an effort to end the issue Rupert Wyatt issues a statement for everyone as to why he needed to let go of the "Gambit" movie. Wyatt's statement says "I was very much looking forward to working with my friend Channing and the team at Fox, but regrettably a push in the start date now conflicts with another project. I thank them for the opportunity, and I know that Gambit will make a terrific film."
Hopefully, people at Fox will be able to find someone who will fill the gap in a very short notice. Fox is also discussing about crossing over Deadpool and the X-Men franchises. Evidently, the commitment to push thru with the film is clearly there.
Entertainment Weekly says that Channing Tatum was really eager about his role as "Gambit." But without someone to direct at the moment, production is put on hold until such time they get to replace Wyatt. For the time being Tatum will have to focus on his role on Quentin Tarantino's "The Hateful Eight" which is set to shoot in theaters this coming December.
Sadly, for reasons of "timing" Rupert Wyatt had to let go of the motion picture version of the mutant Remy Etienne LeBeau. Fans will have to wait and see if the departure of Wyatt as director for "Gambit" will create further delays. But as of this time Channing Tatum and people at 20th Century Fox still has October 7, 2016 as their release date.
