During the recently held Pax Prime panel, game developer Square Enix and IO Interactive jointly decided to share a sneak peak of what is to be anticipated in the reboot of the game Hitman.
On the Electronic Entertainment Expo, Square Enix launched a 15-minute preview of the Hitman reboot of their Showstopper level. Hardcore Gamer reports that it was the alpha footage of the game that had been presented, which revealed various ways to approach a level and how the gameplay is affected by decisions.
The reboot shall be released in episodic formats which shall successively be played over time. Bidness Etc. clarifies though that the entire game would have to be paid upfront and purchasers are given a playable portion at start and subsequent parts of the game shall be enabled as time goes by. However, fans who do not like such arrangement may wait for a year for a completed game in a disk. Phil Rogers, CEO of Square Enix Europe explains that players will get the full game but in parts for $60, assuring that no micro transactions shall exist.
The new Hitman is reported to have another "sandbox type" environment with a variety of discoveries and costumes to be used for disguise. Such feature became a norm in the preceding Hitman games and the absence of which in the Hitman: Absolution disappointed the fans. Inferring to the 15-minute gameplay video by Square Enix, International Business Times reported that the Showstopper level itself will be the core of the game, wherein Agent 47 infiltrates a fashion show and finds a target to be assassinated. For instance, he will be travelling around the world to hunt down important personalities for reasons unknown. The player's decision shapes the turn of events in the storyline; a player may have Agent 47 sneak their way and smoothly kill the target or have an adrenaline packed action by rushing upfront and going through heavy gunfire. Since every decision has its unique consequences, Agent 47 must wisely decide on whom he kills. Points also vary depending on the type of kill.
Square Enix and IO Interactive's Hitman shall hit the stores on December 08, 2015, playable in PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
