HTC One M8, both unlocked version and from carriers, is bound for an Android 5.1.1 Lollipop update. Currently running on 5.0 version, One M8 now await for the latest Lollipop update shortly after the debut of Android 6.0 Marshmallow later this month.
HTC One M8 will soon get Android 5.1.1 Lollipop software update through an over-the-air release. In some parts of the world, the update shall come in stages which will reach to some regions on a different time.
A querying fan asked regarding the debut of Sense 6.0 and Versi responded it will come with Marshmallow. Although the company's senior vice president Mo Versi revealed earlier last month that the Sense 6.0 user interface is coming with Marshmallow, Android followers believe that Taiwanese brand would still hit the Android 5.1.1 version.

Meanwhile, One M9 and One M7 handsets are also expected to be receiving the Lollipop update too. Most One M9 and One M7 units are currently running on Android 5.0 Lollipop software.
Android 5.1.1 Lollipop update is expected to bring in improvements in user interface, device sharing and syncing, and security patches, among others.
- Material Design. The new Lollipop update brings in more fluid animations along with improved apps and personalization options like colors, widgets and themes.
- More notification controls. Users can now adjust settings to sift people and notifications go get through. Users can also directly respond to notifications from lock screen.
- Device sharing. Create multiple user accounts to allow friends to access device to prevent them from accessing owner's private files. With Android Smart Lock, secure device by pairing it with trusted device like any wearable or even car.
- Device syncing. Apps, song, photos and even recent searches from one Android device can be accessed fully across all other Android devices.
