Filming for Marvel's Doctor Strange is set to commence soon and Rachel McAdams was recently confirmed to be the latest addition to the film's cast. She is believed to star opposite Benedict Cumberbatch as the titular character's love interest. Mads Mikkelsen is also in talks to join the cast and is rumored to play as the evil Dormammu.
As reported by Digital Spy, the upcoming film is set to begin filming this November in London with Benedict Cumberbatch on board to play the titular character, Tinda Swinton as the Ancient One, and Chiwetel Ejiofor who is reportedly set to play as Baron Mordo.
Also, as reported by Collider, Rachel McAdams was recently added to the roster of the cast in a currently undisclosed character. McAdams reportedly confirmed the news during the Toronto International Film Festival. She previously confirmed that she was in talks to join the cast since July.
Moreover, speculations have surfaced regarding the character McAdams is set to play in the upcoming film. According to Screen Rant, McAdams could be Clea, the mistress of the Dark Dimension and daughter of Prince Orini as well as the niece of Dormammu. In the comics, she became Strange's pupil when he became the Sorcerer Supreme and eventually became his love interest.
Aside from Clea, rumor mill suggests that McAdams could also play as Morgana Blessing who was portrayed in the comics as a friend and an enemy to the titular character. Blessing's connection to Baron Mordo is also worth noting. However, it is also entirely possible for McAdams to play a new character in the upcoming film.
Meanwhile, Mads Mikkelsen is also reportedly in talks to play as the demonic tyrant, Dormammu, who is also Doctor Strange's enemy. If Mikkelsen gets on board, he would be Strange's another nemesis other than Baron Mordo. However, his involvement has not been confirmed yet.
Doctor Strange is set to be directed by Scott Derrickson from script by Thomas Dean Donnelly, and Joshua Oppenheimer along with Jon Spaihts. It is set to hit theaters in October 16, 2016 in UK, and November 04, 2016 in the US.
