Prometheus 2 is currently in the works and director Ridley Scott recently shared details on what to expect in the upcoming film. Fassbender was confirmed to return, while Scott revealed that filming for the sequel might take place in Canada or Australia.
As reported by The Guardian, Scott recently revealed during the Toronto International Film Festival that filming for the upcoming Prometheus sequel is set to commence in February, in either Canada or Australia. Fassbender has been confirmed to return as the android David, and he is set to star alongside Noomi Rapace who is also expected to return to reprise her role as Elizabeth Shaw.
When asked what to expect, Scott cited that the first film was left in a specific plot sentence from Shaw. "You can either say, leave the first film alone and jump ahead, but you can't because it ends on too specific a plot sentence as she says, I want to go where they came from", Scott said as reported by Den of Geek.
Scott also reportedly added that he no longer wants to come back to where he came from and that he thought "the subtext of that film was a bit florid and grandiose, but it asks a good question: who created us? I don't think we are here by accident.", he added.
Also, as reported by Comicbook.com, fans will have to follow through in the upcoming film and even teased that the mysteries in the first film will be answered in the upcoming sequel. "It starts off with a very grand idea-or a grand question, really. Who are they and why did they create such evil biology and bacteriology? And [in creating], to protect themselves from what? So the questions are answered there, or rather, beginning to be answered in Prometheus 2." Scott said.
Aside from Rapace and Fassbender, no other actors have been confirmed to return or join the second film in the franchise. The plot is also currently under wraps, although, Scott previously confirmed that the Xenomorphs will no longer be featured in the upcoming film.
Ridley Scott is expected to return in the director's chair for Prometheus 2. The original screenplay for the film was written by Michael Green and Jack Paglen, which was later re-written by Green. It is expected to hit theaters in May 30, 2017.
