All Nexus 5 owners can now install a custom ROM for the upcoming Android 6.0 Marshmallow operating system. The industrious xTRaSmooth community has released this ROM for those Nexus 5 users who can no longer wait for the official launch of the Android Marshmallow.
According to Team Android, the xTRaSmooth custom firmware for the Nexus 5 is based on the upcoming Android 6.0 Marshmallow preview. A lot of features are present in this ROM and the visuals are unaltered and are same as the AOSP version of Android 6.0 Preview. By far there are no bugs or any issues in this custom firmware. The users will definitely have a great time running this ROM on their Nexus 5.
The new Android 6.0 Marshmallow operating system has not yet officially rolled out for the Nexus devices. It is expected to come with leaner and faster Chrome browser, Google Photos, native support for fingerprint sensor input, power saving features to extend the battery life of handsets, and auto back-up. In addition, it is said that the first devices to receive this upcoming firmware will be the two new Nexus smartphones, which will be launched on September 29.
Furthermore, to install the xTRaSmooth Android 6.0 Marshmallow, the user's Nexus 5 must be rooted first. Make sure to back up all data stored by installing TWRP recovery on the device. Also, an 80 percent battery life should be left prior to the installation of this custom ROM.
Download the xTRaSmooth Android 6.0 Marshmallow custom build and Google Apps on the computer and connect the Nexus 5 through a USB cable and place the zip files into the microSD card memory that is attached to the smartphone. After that, turn off the device, disconnect it from the computer, and perform the usual "Bootloader Mode" by long pressing the volume down and power buttons simultaneously.
Next, go to the TWRP recovery mode and do a full data wipe. The user should clear the cache memory by choosing the "wipe cache partition."
Finally, go back to the main recovery screen and select "install zip from SD card" for both the Google Apps and xTRaSmooth Android 6.0 Marshmallow. The device must then be rebooted and after a while the Nexus 5 now runs on xTRaSmooth Android 6.0 Marshmallow custom firmware.
