Ben McKenzie and Morena Baccarin's on-screen love in the dark comic book-inspired drama "Gotham," has now finally come into reality. The co-stars are reportedly dating and even made their red carpet debut together as a couple at the 67th Annual Emmy Awards.
The pair is dating according to People, after being spotted in a number of events together over the Emmy's weekend. They were caught holding hands at the Fox party at Vibiana after the awards show on Sunday. They star the hit show "Gotham" as the characters who fell in love over their way to the show's first season. The series is a prequel of Batman and chronicles the life of Police Commissioner James Gordon, portrayed by Baccarin's new love, McKenzie.
Reportedly, the dating speculations come just a day after the duo was spotted arriving together at the FOX 2015 Primetime Emmy Awards after party. The 36-year old actress previously appeared on "Homeland". She joined the FOX series in its first season as Dr. Leslie Thompkins.
In fact, this is not the first time that the new couple has worked together on screen. During an interview in May at Fox's 2015 Upfronts, E! News reported that the new couple opened up about their onset love affair. The 37-year-old actor admitted that they had actually worked together before when Baccarin made an appearance alongside McKenzie on "The O.C.". However, when Baccarin hinted him of her short guesting on the show, he actually didn't recall so he just played along at the very moment.
Previously, the actress tied the knot with an American producer and director Austin Chick. The couple married in 2011 and in October 2013, they shared a son together named Julius. The pair unfortunately called it quits in early 2015 after Chick filed for a divorce, saying that they are struggling with their differences.
According to Dailymail UK, McKenzie has never been committed, and has always been very private about his past relationships. He mentioned in the January issue of Elle that he was single but he has "never had a problem being monogamous in a serious relationship. I've also never had a problem dating as I see fit when I'm not in a relationship," he added. The actor also claimed that "the guilt of not being monogamous would be massive."
And now, looks like the new pair finally found love in each other's arms. And their fans were just very delighted to hear the news confirming their offscreen romance. Meanwhile, "Gotham" Season 2 premieres on Fox this Monday, September 21.
