Fans will have to wait a little bit longer as "Alien 5's" shooting and release dates have been pushed back. However, there is something to be interested about, as the film is likely to have a crossover with "Prometheus 2."
According to Vine Report, Ridley Scott, the producer of both "Alien 5" and "Prometheus 2", has decided to prioritize the completion of the latter film. And although this seems to worry most of the fans, "Alien 5" is still pretty much in the works.
Fortunately for the fans, Fox is still keen on the idea of releasing the fifth "Alien" installment and that Scott is still producing it. However, "Prometheus" is believed to be made first.
As for the director of "Alien 5," Neill Blomkamp, CrossMap reported that he's guaranteeing fans that the film won't "tread on the toes" of Scott's "Prometheus 2." The director also revealed that "one thing that makes me feel good about it is that Ridley is producing it," and that "he likes the idea of what I want to make."
On the other hand, rumor has it that the two franchises could possibly tie up together in a crossover. Movie Web reported that Ridley Scott revealed in an interview with a German site that he's actually developing more than one sequel. And when asked about the possibility of "Prometheus 2" connecting to the "Alien" franchise, here's what he had to say:
"The whole point of it is to explain the Alien franchise and to explain the how and why of the creation of the Alien itself. I always thought of the Alien as kind of a piece of bacterial warfare."
Meanwhile, Sigourney Weaver is set to return to her role as Ellen Ripley in "Alien 5." Michael Beighn is also expected to reprise his role as Colonel Dwayne Hicks. The upcoming installment will reportedly have great story and visuals, as director Neill Blomkamp is known to such with his previous projects. "Alien 5" is said to have a bit of horror and tension, similar to its game "Alien: Isolation."
If "Alien 5" does have a crossover with "Prometheus 2," pushing back its shooting dates and release are certainly worth the wait.
