Before Warner Bros., Universal Studios was handling the most anticipated movie "Kong: Skull Island." Recently, the reason behind the passing up of Universal of the film is revealed.
The problem that surfaced that made Universal turn its back from "Kong: Skull Island" is the condition of Legendary Pictures to increase the budget of the film by 25 percent. Warner stepped up to kick in the 25 percent of budgets as well as marketing costs on the Kong films. According to Tech Times, Universal executives were without doubt keyed up about another King Kong film, but a 25 percent increase in the budget was too much for the studio.
"Kong: Skull Island," will revolve around a team of explorers who journey to the mysterious and exotic title location which happens to be the home of King Kong. The mysterious Skull Island will have Tom Hiddleston as the lead role. The "I Saw The Light" actor gave some details on his role for the "Kong: Skull Island" at the Toronto International Film Festival. Hiddleston stated: "There's something very heroic about my character in Skull Island. He's an adventurer, he's an explorer. I mean, it's a King Kong film."
He has complimented director Jordan Vogt-Roberts on how he is tackling the film. Hiddleston said that that there is something in there that makes King Kong compelling. Vogt-Roberts has turned Kong as some sort of an emblem of the power of nature. He added that there is a particular context for the story that hasn't been seen on screen before. Hiddleston who also stars in a movie adaptation "High Rise" also gave a hint that there is a certain time period in the movie. It is a follow up of what had actor J.K. Simmons previously told in a separate interview in January that the film will take place in 1971 Detroit.
Hiddleston will be joined by stars that he referred to as "amazing actors" like Brie Larson (Short Term 12) Corey Hawkins (Dr. Dre) and Jason Mitchell (Straight Outta Compton). Toby Kebbell of Fantastic Four and Russell Crowe of Man of Steel are reportedly joining the cast.
