Chloe Grace Moretz Fights Off Aliens In Her Latest Movie "The 5th Wave", Film Releases Its First Trailer

Chloe Grace Moretz is up against Alien invasion in her newest movie from Columbia Pictures "The 5th Wave." The first trailer for the film was released and by the looks of it, Moretz who will play as the 16-year-old Cassie Sullivan will show a rather tough cookie character to save her brother from the Others.

The Others are the powerful extraterrestrial enemies that invaded and destroyed Earth in a pursuit of eradicating the humanity. The trailer follows Moretz with a loaded machine gun, fighting for survival and looking for her brother whom the Others had taken. She meets a soldier named Colonel Vosch played by "Ray Donovan" star Liev Schreiber who has a plan on fighting off the world's unwelcomed guests, IB Times reports.

The first trailer details the rising sequence of the chaos that came to Earth. The first wave was darkness when Aliens cut off the power supply. Second wave involves tidal waves and floods covering the cities. The third wave was an unknown deadly airborne virus that has killed many people. The fourth one was the start of the invasion itself where the Others started inhabiting human hosts. The fifth wave is believed to be the major obliteration of the enemy to totally get rid of the human kind, according to Daily Mail UK.

Digital Spy narrates the the movie is based on the 2013 novel of same title by Rick Yancey, "The 5th Wave" is the first book in a trilogy. It revolves around Cassie and her family as they fight to survive the catastrophe. Cassie started toughing up when her younger brother Sammy (Zachary Arthur) gets separated from her and she vows to get her brother. The second book, titled The Infinite Sea, was in print in September 2014. The third and would be the final installment of the franchise is anticipated to be published in May 2016.

Chloe Grace Moretz is up for another action-themed experience in 'The 5th Wave" movie. The film is directed by J. Blakeson who was also responsible for "The Disappearance of Alice Creed." The screenplay is penned by Oscar-nominated Erin Brockovich screenwriter Susannah Grant. Stars alongside Moretz, are Ron Livingston, Nick Robinson, Maika Monroe and Alex Roe who plays as Cassie's love interest Evan Walker.

"The 5th Wave" is set to hit the theaters on January 15, 2016.
