Google enhanced Gmail's service by adding a "block button" and "unsubscribe feature" in the email. The internet company aims to protect its subscribers against spam senders and unwanted messages through the application update. These features started rolling out in the Web version on September 22 and are going to be available in Android version next week.
The Verge noted that Gmail subscribers can have the ability to block senders from the inbox and any messages will automatically be routed to spam folder the next time it will send another message. This capability is different from the old version because of the easier access to block unwanted senders.
More so, Digital Times mentioned that Google cannot totally prevent people from sending messages to Gmail subscribers, so such enhancement can at least help in rerouting unwanted messages in the spam folder. On the other hand, related report said that Gmail subscribers who use the Web can toggle with the filter by choosing email addresses or keywords to block. The report added steps on how to do this by going to Inbox, then More, and choose Filter messages. This then will open a new page for the chosen blocked email addresses and keywords.
A new feature which is "unsubscribe" is also available to app's Web and Android version, related report said. This option gives ability for Gmail users to delete newsletters and massive emails from the inbox without reading. Users can go to More for drop down menu, and click unsubscribe. This method will remove the users name from the sender's mailing list. To reverse the action, users can go to Settings of Gmail app.
Google is indeed making things possible to provide privacy and confidentiality through Gmail's enhanced features. The update will automatically show on the phone's notification bar once the new features become available next week.
