The much talked-about "23 Jump Street" is reportedly happening. It is also rumored that Sony is planning a "Men In Black" crossover.
According to Realty Today, rumor has it that the "23 Jump Street" film was already set in motion. This despite people thinking it was a joke, as the previous "22 Jump Street" only showed montage in the end of future Jump Street reaching up to 43 Jump Street.
Den of Geek, on the other hand, reported that Sony is really pressing toward the third installment. In fact, Rodney Rothman, who wrote the second film, is reportedly back and working on the script. Nonetheless, it's yet to be clear if both Chris Miller and Phil Lord have enough breathing space in their schedule to commence directing.
Meanwhile, there are also rumors about a "Men In Black" crossing over to "23 Jump Street." Although this may sound a little bit exaggerated, Sony is indeed reportedly planning the said crossover.
According to CrossMap, Lord and Miller shed light about the rumor in an interview with MTV.
"We're really focusing on what's a great story for Schmidt and Jenko and how to tell the next chapter in their lives. And perhaps use creatures from another world at the same time."
This is definitely something that fans should be hyped about, given that "Men In Black" was a box-office hit film in its prime.
However, the publication explained that there are still several factors hindering its production. For one, they need to have the approval of Steven Spielberg (director of "Men In Black") while Sony will not do it without the director's blessing. It is also worth noting that Lord and Miller gave caution that "we're developing a lot of things... and they may or may not all happen, but that's how the business works."
It's given that "23 Jump Street" will have its time in the near future, but if rumors are true about Sony planning a "Men in Black" crossover, then that's something that should be seen on the big screens.
