Director Colin Trevorrow teased the endless possibilities for "Star Wars: Episode 9." He also claimed the franchise is a true "Universe."
It holds true that there's less to be known about the subsequent sequels, one of which includes "Star Wars: Episode 9." However, according to Movie Web, during director Trevorrow's "Jurassic" cast podcast, he teased the endless possibilities there are for the said episode. He went on to say that the whole franchise is the kind of universe where every story could be told.
Despite the fact that he can't talk much about the entirety of the franchise, the director believes that the "idea of that 'Universe', that word gets thrown around a lot as far as movies are concerned and what people are building, that one's an actual universe." He has faith in its size and scope that "every kind of story we can think of can be told in the Star Wars universe, because it is endless and boundless."
/Film reported that there is certainty to what the director said, given the kind of scope that the franchise has. From the various stories in the Skywalker Saga all the way up to the "Star Wars Story" anthology films, there's no doubt of its endless possibilities.
Meanwhile, according to Screen Rush, Lucasfilm has been on a mission to plot the extension of the "Star Wars" franchise. Hence, it is not surprising to see Trevorrow diving into the new era of films - all of which will begin this December. In fact, he has reportedly begun production for "Star Wars: Episode 9," which is believed to close things out for the time being.
It was originally rumored that the director of the said film will be announced at San Diego Comic Con 2015. However, Lucasfilm and Disney held the confirmation for their own D23 Expo 2015.
There's no doubt that "Star Wars: Episode 9" has endless possibilities, like what director Colin Trevorrow has affirmed. Nonetheless, his claim towards the franchise being a true "Universe" can only be confirmed once the films are released for the public to see and judge.
