The official trailer for "The Angry Birds" movie has been released. It seems to be the last best hope for the franchise creator Rovio.

The app game that most people have a love/hate relationship with is getting a full-length feature. According to The Guardian, the trailer for "The Angry Birds" movie has been released and gives a first look at the favorite characters - Nameless Red Bird and Black Blowy-Up Bird.

During its prime, the "Angry Birds" game became one of the hottest apps on both Android and iOS. People just can't stop playing it, and even some comedians can't stop referencing it. And when it was announced that it'll hit the big screen, fans can't help but get excited.

As for the franchise creator Rovio, however, it sure did have its own share of struggles. The Verge reported that the company laid off 16% of its workforce in October 2014, while in March 2015, the company confessed that its profits had fallen 73% since 2014. Hence, as the publication concluded, the upcoming movie adaptation might just be Rovio's last best hope.

The trailer depicts a beautiful look as well as a talented cast (Jason Sudeikis, Josh Gad, Bill Hader, Maya Rudolph and Peter Dinklage). Clay Kaytis (Wreck-It-Ralph) and Fergal Reilly (Spider Man 2) will be reportedly helming the film, along with Jon Vitty (The Simpson) as the screenwriter. The animated film is believed to be focused on the reason why these famous birds are angry.

Interestingly enough, "The Angry Birds" movie will hit theaters in May 2016. According to Engadget, the said released date is actually a couple of months earlier than originally announced. However, there's no confirmation as to why such adjustment was made.
