The Martian received exceedingly positive reviews during the 2015 Toronto Film Festival. Recently, the science fiction thriller film was screened for astronauts aboard the International Space Station.
The Guardian reported that the accuracy of the movie have been challenged by some experts. In the previous reviews, the production has been under the consultation of NASA. But, some experts observed that there are quite unrealistic and inaccurate scenes in the movie. The former director of the Space Policy Institute at George Washington University, John Logsdon, criticized the scenes when the cast were walking normally in Mars.
"They would not be walking normally - maybe more like hopping, as they did on the moon," he said. "The sand storm is inaccurate too. The atmosphere is too thin for such a force. You would not feel winds no matter how fast they were."
According to Forbes, the movie follows the storyline of the book. In the plot, the crew of the Ares III features in the first part having a mission to Mars. Following a disaster, the six astronauts returned back to Earth leaving astronaut Mark Watney (Matt Damon) behind. Moreover, it was stated that this is one of the greatest roles played by Damon.
Moreover, The Hollywood Reporter indicated that the Film Society of Lincoln Center has announced on their Twitter account that "The Martian" will be having another screening in RealD at the Alice Tully Hall. The 53rd New York Film Festival attendees will have a chance to see a special, sneak peek of Ridley Scott's upcoming film.
Based on the Andy Weir's novel, Jessica Chastain, Kate Mara, Michael Pena, Jeff Daniels, Kriten Wiig, Donald Glover and Chiwetel Ejiofor will be joining Matt Damon in the movie. The Martian follows the struggles of Mark Watney to survive for four years in planet Mars while waiting for someone to rescue him.
The Martian is scheduled for its premiere on October 2. 20th Century Fox assures that the audiences will be fascinated with the new space journey film.
