Sony has confirmed that Bad Boys 3 and 4 are currently in the works. Martin Lawrence and Will Smith have not been confirmed yet, although Lawrence admitted to being in talks to return while speculations have also surfaced suggesting that Smith might only return as a producer.

Sony is currently preparing 2 more sequels for their Bad Boy franchise and has scheduled them for a 2017 and 2019 release. While nobody has been confirmed yet in terms of the cast, Lawrence revealed that negotiations are taking place between him and Sony for the film.

As cited by Comedy Hype, Lawrence recently called to The Rickey Smiley Morning Show where he revealed some of the dates for his 'Doin Time' Tour and also revealed his standing on the sequel. "Well ain't nobody confirm that with me yet... It's still talks man... I think it's going to happen... i'ts still talks", Lawrence revealed in the show.

While Lawrence has confirmed to be in talks to return, no reports have been revealed about Will Smith's return yet. Although according to Movie News Guide, Smith's involvement in the upcoming film might only be limited to being its producer.

As reported by Screenrant, a source reportedly revealed that Smith's involvement in the film remains unclear. Moreover, his refusal to return to franchises he helped create such as Independence Day 2 being the most notable, might also contribute to the reason why rumors are now making their rounds about him not returning for the upcoming film.

In the previous installments Lawrence and Smith played as the buddy cops who fought criminals and drug rings. Joe Carnahan is currently attached to direct the upcoming Bad Boys 3 which has been slated to hit theaters on February 17, 2017. Bad Boys 4 is expected to hit theaters in July 03, 2019. More details are expected to be revealed in the coming months.
