Marvel is soon to welcome its female superhero in the upcoming Captain Marvel, with Rebecca Ferguson revealed to be the top contender for the role. While previous reports also suggest Emily Blunt as another strong choice for the role, she admitted to not knowing the titular character.
As reported by Heroic Hollywood, among all the names linked to play as the titular character, Ferguson is reportedly on top of Marvel's list. This will not be the first time Ferguson is being considered for a superhero film as she was also in on the running for a female lead character for Channing Tatum's Gambit, but dropped the chance in order to star Tate Taylor's The Girl on the Train.
Aside from Ferguson, another name heavily attached to the film is Emily Blunt. But according to a report by Latin Post, Blunt also honestly revealed that she doesn't know much about comic book characters. "I don't know who she is.", the actress reportedly said.
"I'm sorry I don't know comic book characters. They're not my forte", Blunt added. Also, the actress also revealed that despite persistent rumors of her being considered for the role, nobody from Marvel has approached her yet, as she said that not even "one phone call about Captain Marvel" has got to her yet.
According to /Film, Nicole Perlman, along with Megan LaFauve have been tapped to write the script for the upcoming film. But before her solo film, Captain Marvel could also reportedly appear in the MCU, however, as to which film will that be remains to be a mystery although Guardians of the Galaxy could also be a good choice.
Details for the upcoming Captain Marvel is currently scarce, and no director has been confirmed yet. However, more details are expected to be revealed as production progress. It is currently slated to hit theaters on November 02, 2018.
