AT&T Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 8.0 Update: Android 5.1.1 Lollipop Update Starts Rolling Out

By

All Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 8.0 owners on AT&T can now rejoice as Android 5.1.1 Lollipop update is now available via over-the-air (OTA). It is AT&T's turn to begin the latest Android firmware version rollout. The update brings the usual mix of bug fixes and the overall performance improvement of the device.

The Android 5.1.1 Lollipop firmware is expected to bring a number of changes to the Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 8.0. It will include more animations than the previous Android 5.0 update, better Bluetooth and WiFi management, device stability and security enhancements, improved screen pinning and notifications, as well as better memory management.

Furthermore, the update adds a few improvements to the tablet's battery life performance. According to Geek Snack, this update removes some pre-installed applications when the device has been reset. However, it adds AT&T Messages, New YP VPL, and AT&T Messages VPL.

Android 5.1.1 Lollipop update weighs in 867MB and requires a reliable and stable WiFi connection to make sure the installation process goes smoothly and without any disruptions. The tablet must also be charged at least 50 percent to continually complete the process.

In order to manually check for the update's availability, simply go to the device's Settings, and then click the About Device. After that, hit the Software Version option and navigate to Check for Updates. In case the new software does not appear, just wait patiently a bit. Thus, the update should not take too long to be ready on the AT&T's Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 8.0.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 8.0 rollout to Android 5.1.1 Lollipop build is estimated to be completed on a global level by the end of 2015. After that, those unlocked tablet models will most likely to get the newest Android 6.0 Marshmallow by January of next year. Start installing this firmware now!
