Nina Dobrev may have left her role as Elena on "The Vampire Diaries", but the actress says she will definitely tune in when the show returns to the TV screens. Apparently, Dobrev has become one of the fan favorites to adapt the role of Allie in TV series of Nicholas Spark's best-selling novel "The Notebook".

While she already slammed rumors of her return in the latest season, there have been continuous claims that her ex-boyfriend has hinted the return of Elena Gilbert to Mystic Falls. Ian Somerhalder told Melty that fans will "indeed be seeing Elena again." The hunky actor revealed, "She's not dead. In 70 years or however long Bonnie lives, Elena will resurface at some point, although we'll be very old when that happens."

But then, in her latest claims, the former "TVD" star stated that TVDers who are still hoping that her character Elena might pop up by the end of this season might get broken- hearted once again. The 26-year-old got the answer for all the TVD fans who think she might return for the new season. "I can't wait to see what the new season will look like," she told Entertainment Weekly. "I'll be watching. I'm very excited for my friends." If you had any last shred of hope that Elena would return this season (or ever), then you're going to be heartbroken. "That chapter is closed, sadly - bittersweet," she added.

Recent claims had been linking Dobrev's name to the alleged upcoming TV series of "The Notebook". She is strongly becoming one of the fan favorites to play the role of Allie in Nicholas Sparks' adaptation, E! News claimed. Pop Sugar even included Dobrev in the list of "The Notebook" TV Show: 31 Casting Choices For Noah and Allie" by Maggie Pehanick. "Now that Dobrev has exited The Vampire Diaries, she may be looking for a new role! OK, probably not on another drama on The CW, but a girl (me) can dream," Pehanick wrote.

While the star's casting as Allie has yet to be confirmed by the "The Notebook" production staff, it's still not impossible for Dobrev to appear in the show as CW executives previously expressed their desire to work with her again. Another good news to her fans is she can be seen as Vicki in the horror-comedy "The Final Girls" which will be released on October 9.
