Since the announcement of Idris Elba's appearance in the "Star Trek Beyond" movie franchise, speculations as to who he will be playing was all over the social media. With all the rumors and speculations, Elba revealed details about his role.
Idris Elba had a talk with the MTV, and he he revealed that the movie scriptwriter (Simon Pegg) has written a one great role for his character role which he has not played before. According to Elba, his super-villain role has a "slightly different twist" compared to any other villain roles.
"But in this version of the film, there's a slightly different twist to that," Elba said. "It's quite an interesting journey, which I think is groundbreaking for the franchise. But, it still keeps with the 'classic bad guy is a classic bad guy' tone."
Cinemablend reported that Simon Pegg, the movie scriptwriter, has debunked the rumors about Elba being a Klingon. In the rumor mill, fans speculated that "Star Trek Beyond" will be having the Klingons back as the villains. But, Pegg has confirmed that they will unlikely be returning just yet.
Meanwhile, "Star Trek Beyond' has finished shooting in Canada, according to an article on Trek Today. The production will be having their next filming in Dubai including Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Karl Urban, John Cho, Anton Yelchin and Idris Elba. However, it is not specified if Zöe Saldana will be joining them in Dubai. In a message she posted, it appeared like she has finished shooting her "Star Trek" part but, it was not yet confirmed.
Sources say that the movie director Justin Lin alongside Simon Pegg will be having a press conference in Dubai this week. And recently, Paramount has altered the supposedly release date of July 8, 2016 to July 22, 2016. With that, the sequel will have a better contingent for an IMAX release.
