On Thursday, Paramount Pictures has announced some changes for the scheduled release date of the upcoming film, "Star Trek Beyond". As a result, the supposedly July 8, 2016 release was moved to July 22, 2016.
Deadline has confirmed the news and it was stated that the delays might have been done to take advantage of the IMAX hubs that are available on a late July. The originally planned schedule was occupied leaving no space for Captain Kirk and his crew. But still, Star Trek is juxtaposed with 20th Century Fox's Ice Age: Collision and Warner Bros' King Arthur. However, the Enterprise crew has had no problem with either of the two in the previous years.
When Bob Orci left the filmmaking for the "Star Trek Beyond", Screenrush stated that audiences speculated the film might somehow be delayed. However, it turned out that the delay was not because of that and it was not as long as what they apprehended.
Moreover, the movie is will commence the 50th anniversary of the debut of the TV series launched on September 8, 1966 though the release date is about a month and a half earlier. Variety noted that the original Gene Roddenberry's show, "The Man Trap", was aired on NBC for three seasons. Despite the fact that it was not the first episode, it introduced "Star Trek" and the Enterprise to the world.
Justin Lin is tasked to direct the third installment in Paramount's "Star Trek" franchise with J.J Abrams and Roberto Orci as the producers. Alongside him, Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Zoe Saldana, Karl Urban, John Cho, Anton Yelchin, Sofia Boutella and Idris Elba will be playing their own roles in the upcoming film.
Previously, 2013's "Star Trek into Darkness" earned a total of $467 million worldwide, $229 million nationwide. Will the release date delay of the "Star Trek Beyond" affect the box office?
