Gleeson admitted his excitement about being cast in the upcoming installment of the popular science-fiction franchise. Rumors about Han Solo's death have also reemerged.
According to We Got This Covered, Gleeson revealed that J.J. Abrams described his character General Hux as "merciless" and that he was excited to play a part that was different from all his other previous roles. He said in an interview, "Yeah, I mean you look at him and you realize he's not a good guy! He's got an English accent so he can't be good. I hadn't played anybody like that before. Star Wars is amazing, J.J. Abrams is amazing, but the thing to do was play something different. That's what got me really excited."
The Irish film and theater actor is known for his roles in films such as 'Ex Machina', 'Unbroken', 'Calvary', 'About Time', 'Anna Karenina' and the 'Harry Potter' film series. He also received a Tony Award nomination for his role on 'The Lieutenant of Inishmore'. It is unclear whether the actor will reprise his role in the follow-up 'Star Wars Episode VIII'.
Gleeson admitted that he was a major fan of the franchise saying that finally being on the set was still an unbelievable experience, according to another article by Games Radar. The actor had nothing but praise for the series as well as his current director Abrams. He is all set to star alongside Gwendoline Christie, Oscar Isaac, Adam Driver, Andy Serkis, Lupita Nyong'o and Daisy Ridley as well as veteran actors Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford and Carrie Fisher.
According to Metro, a rumor regarding the impending death of the iconic Han Solo has reemerged. It was reported that an insider recently claimed that the smuggler will be killed off four decades after first appearing on 1977's 'Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope'. This timeline was suggested to occur in the upcoming sequel.
'Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens' is an upcoming action adventure and science fiction film scheduled to be released on December 18, 2015. The highly anticipated sequel is said to follow 30 years after the events of 1983's 'Star Wars: Episode VI - Return of the Jedi'.
