'Jack Reacher 2' may feature Patrick Heusinger of 'Girlfriends' Guide to Divorce' to star opposite Tom Cruise as the film's main antagonist. Director Ed Zwick's follow-up film is scheduled for an October 2016 release.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Heusinger is currently in talks to join the cast of Paramount and Skydance's upcoming project as the villain. The American actor is known for his roles on several television shows including 'Girlfriends' Guide to Divorce', 'Revolution' and 'Friends with Benefits'. He has also worked on feature films including 'Frances Ha', 'Black Swan' and 'The Nanny Diaries'.
Another article from Slash Film wrote that Heusinger will be joining the growing cast members namely Cobie Smulders, Aldis Hodge and Danika Yarosh. Ed Zwick is confirmed to helm the second installation in the action-drama series in replacement of previous filmmaker Christopher McQuarrie. Zwick has worked with leading man Tom Cruise in 'The Last Samurai'.
The filmmaker is also an Academy Award-winning producer. His films include 'Glory', 'Legends of the Fall', 'Blood Diamond', 'Love & Other Drugs' and 'Defiance'. His film production company, The Bedford Falls Company, has produced several critically acclaimed films in the industry.
It was reported by Variety that Paramount has set the release date for 'Jack Reacher 2' for October 21, 2016. The sequel will be based on author Lee Child's novel 'Never Go Back' with a plot that centers on Jack Reacher's return to the U.S. Military Police Corps headquarters in Virginia and the events that follow from there. Although McQuarrie will not be returning to direct the film, he is reportedly joining in as executive producer.
'Jack Reacher 2' is the second film in the action-crime-drama series starring Tom Cruise. Its predecessor garnered generally positive reviews and grossed $218 million against a $60 million budget, according to Box Office Mojo. The films are adapted from Lee Child's series of books that follow the adventures of an ex-military policeman who becomes a wanderer.
