'Captain America: Civil War' will feature the return of Chris Evans in the title role. He recently talked about Marvel's upcoming big-screen project including the reason why his character is fighting Iron Man. It was also revealed that he may star as Cap for the next five years.
According to Moviepilot, there had been speculations regarding the impending demise of America's first superhero but these were soon put to rest. Evans, who plays the titular Captain America, has reportedly signed on to a five year contract with Marvel Studios. This means that he may continue making appearances in future films in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).
It was also reported that although Steve Rogers a.k.a. Captain America may not die any time soon, he may get arrested as in some versions of the comic books. Not enough details have been given away prior to the actual cinematic release of 'Captain America: Civil War' but it is known that the superhero will be battling it out against former ally Tony Stark a.k.a. Iron Man.
Evans recently attended the Salt Lake City Comic Con held last September 26, according to The Salt Lake City Tribune. Although he admitted that the fight between him and Iron Man was because of conflicting interests regarding the new policies regulating and governing superheroes, he revealed that he did lean towards Tony Stark's principles upon reading the new script for the first time.
He said, "Tony actually thinks we should be signing these accords and reporting to somebody and Cap, who's always been a company man and has always been a soldier, actually doesn't trust anymore. Given what happened in Cap 2, I think he kind of feels the safest hands are his own... And these are understandable concerns, but this is tough, because even reading the script, you think I think I agree with Tony in a way, and I do agree that to make this work, you do need to surrender to the group."
The 34-year old actor also revealed that there is no clear antagonist in the upcoming film, Movie Web reported. He said that the complex issues dividing two sides of politics are akin to real life situations where people have opposing point-of-views. He added that his character may be a team player but his "strong moral compass" forced him to take matters into his own hands.
'Captain America: Civil War' is an upcoming action-adventure film slated for release on May 6, 2016. It is considered the first film in MCU's Phase Three and is intended as the sequel to the preceding films 'Captain America: The First Avenger' and 'Captain America: Winter Soldier'.
