The Goddess of War is set to appear in the DC Extended Universe in the Wonder Woman solo film. Filming is set to commence for the film soon while Gal Gadot recently admitted to turning down a role in the Man of Steel.
As reported by Screenrant, filming for the forthcoming Wonder Woman stand alone film which is set to be released in 2017 has been set to commence this fall, and will give Gadot enough time to fulfill her responsibilities in Justice League Part 1 which is also to be released in the same year.
Although details about the film are scarce at present, it was previously revealed that the film will star Gadot as the titular hero, and Chris Pine as her love interest, Steve Trevor. According to Movie Pilot, the film will follow the New 52 continuity wherein she takes over as the God of War.
The film will be a prequel to Diana Prince's life from Themiscyra to 1920 New York where she meets and falls in love with Steve Trevor. It will also show her immortality and prove that she has been crime fighting under the radar for a couple of decades now.
The film will be directed by Patty Jenkins, and despite his involvement in the film has not been confirmed yet, speculations are rampant suggesting Jason Fuchs could be the film's screenwriter. Also, in an interview, although he has not clarified or revealed anything, Fuchs only has a few words to describe his work with Warner Bros. "Warners has been very kind to me, I have to say", Fuchs said.
Meanwhile, Gadot has been pretty open about her excitement in playing the role, and in a recent report by International Business Times, it was revealed that she was also previously considered for another role in the DCEU, but only more on the villain side.
According to the actress, she was previously considered to play the role of Faora-Ul, an evil Kryptonian. However, she reportedly had to turn down the role because of her pregnancy. The actress said that she believes in Karma and the ideology of "whatever happens, happens", and true enough she was later cast to play as Diana Prince a.k.a. Wonder Woman.
The Wonder Woman solo film is set to be produced by Charles Roven, Deborah Snyder, Zack Snyder, and Richard Suckle. It is set to be executive produced by Geoff Johns, and Stephen Jones. It is expected to hit theaters on June 23, 2017.
