Paul Walker's daughter is suing Porsche for the accident that took her father's life. Meadow Walker claims that her father would still be alive if proper safety features were installed in the car in which he died.
Based on the the lawsuit obtained by People, the lawyers of 16-year-old Meadow believe that the Porsche Carrera GT which her father's friend, Roger Rodas, was driving during the incident "lacked safety features ... that could have prevented the accident or, at a minimum, allowed Paul Walker to survive the crash."
Specifically, the said lawyers assert that regardless of Porsche "knowing that the Carrera GT had a history of instability and control issues," the car manufacturer still "failed to install its electronic stability control system." On top of this, Meadow's lawyers assert that if it wasn't for a "defective" seat belt, Walker might still be able to exit the car just before it caught on fire.
Meadow's attorney, Jeff Milam, summarized the case by saying "The Porsche Carrera GT is a dangerous car. It doesn't belong on the street. And we shouldn't be without Paul Walker or his friend, Roger Rodas." The specific amount of damages that Meadow is seeking is not included in the lawsuit.
CNN reported that Calvin Kim of Porsche Cars North America stated that the automaker wouldn't comment on specifics as they haven't seen the lawsuit yet. "As we have said before, we are saddened whenever anyone is hurt in a Porsche vehicle, but we believe the authorities' reports in this case clearly established that this tragic crash resulted from reckless driving and excessive speed," Kim added.
Meanwhile, Meadow has initiated a charitable foundation in on honor of his father. The teen started The Paul Walker Foundation on her father's 42nd birthday. The foundation will provide scholarships to teenagers who are passionate about the ocean. The said institution will work in cooperation with the great Monterey Bay Aquarium.
While others insist that cars don't kill people and it is the irresponsible drivers who kill instead, some fans believe that car safety features would have helped Paul Walker to get through the crash. Many also think that this case filed by Meadow Walker and her lawyers will be a win if they can really prove that there really was a flaw design on the seat belt. Is it really Porsche's fault that Paul Walker died?
