During the recent press conference for his film "Legend", Tom Hardy explained his reaction to a question concerning his sexuality. Wanting to make himself clear, the actor argued that it was not the proper setting for the query.
Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, the 37-year-old actor expressed how annoyed he was when asked about this topic in a room crowded with journalist at the Toronto International Film Festivals. Being happy to have a conversation about anything at a reasonable time, Tom stressed "There is a time and a place for that."
Dailymail said that the reporter is Graeme Coleman of LGBT site Daily Xtra. The reporter asked, "In the film, your character Ronnie is very open about his sexuality but given interviews you've done in the past, your own sexuality seems a bit more ambiguous. Do you find it hard for celebrities to talk to media about their sexuality?"
Tom took a pause then responded: "What on earth are you on about?" The crowd at the conference started to laugh, then Coleman said he was referring to the actor's comments during an interview with Attitude Magazine in 2008. Still not sure how exactly to answer, the British actor replied: 'But what is your question?'
Things became awkward as Coleman repeat the question to which Hardy answered directly: "I don't find it difficult for celebrities to talk about their sexuality." Still trying to understand Coleman's line of questioning, Tom inquired: "Are you asking me about my sexuality?" With the reporter replying 'sure', the actor swiftly responded by asking 'why' and with no answer given, Tom finally shut him down with 'Thank you'
In 2008, Hardman became known for something peculiar: Confessing, and later denying that he admitted having sex with men. The entertainment outlets then released the interview as breaking news while the gay community admired the actor's honest remarks.
Based on Hardy's comments in the past, any fans may wonder about his sexuality. Do you think the actor gave an intelligent response by saying that it is not the right time for the journalist's question? Or would you rather have the actor gave a more convincing answer?
