The 33-year-old Columbus Short pleaded no contest to punching a man last year at a West Hollywood restaurant. In line with the case, the former "Scandal" actor will be ordered to pay a particular amount of restitution to be determined at an hearing which will take place on October 21.
Short personally appeared in brief hearing in Los Angeles County District's attorney's office, Thursday to plead not guilty to felony count of assault with probability to cause great bodily injury. Although he has escaped jail time, his fight will still continue.
E Online said Short was sentenced to three years of probation with 60 days of community service. He has also been ordered to take 26 anger-management classes. The next hearing in the felony case will be on June 5, wherein they'll make plans to have a preliminary hearing in order for both sides to be able to present more evidence.
In line with this case, another report says a witness testified during a December hearing that Short indeed delivered a running punch in a fight in March 2014 which causes Fenton Hyche III to be unconscious and eventually fall to the ground. Hyche suffered a fractured eye socket and a concussion.
Short's attorney, Michael Levin, didn't urgently return messages seeking comment regarding his client's plea. Levin has already mentioned before that Short was just acting in self-defense due to the fact that Hyche was prepared to fight Short.
Columbus Short just recently appeared in a on an another felony battery case with his wife Tanee McCall said NY Daily News. The actor plans to file an appeal in the said case because his wife is 'just upset, a woman scorned.' "I've never touched a woman, never touched a woman like that in my life," he added said.
After clearing himself from the violence accusation from his wife, Columbus Short is filing a not guilty plea to hitting a man last year. How much restitution will it need to settle this case? Many fans are hoping that this will be the last allegation of violence involving Short.
