Helena Bonham Carter Breaks Silence on Tim Burton Split: Their 'somewhat special' relationship was 'not meant to be forever'

Helena Bonham Carter and Tim Burton may still have something special in them, but it does not give guarantee that their romantic relationship was meant to last forever. The actress is now breaking her silence about the high-profile Hollywood split.

It's almost one year since Helena and Tim revealed that they will end their 13-year relationship. The 49-year-old actress opened up about the surprising split when she spoke with Red magazine for the November issue as reported by Red Online.

"I could write a thesis on what's happened and it is all-absorbing when a relationship breaks down, but I think we're coming through it, and I think we'll have something very precious still. Our relationship was always somewhat special, and I think it'll always remain special," Carter said.

Bonham Carter has come to terms regarding the split and she is positive about whatever came out of the relationship. She told the magazine, "We did find each other. And really, the mark of a successful relationship shouldn't be whether you're there forever after. Sometimes you're not meant to be forever together. Sometimes you have to come to terms with the fact that that was it."

Carter also mentioned the reports that they lived in two adjoining houses located in London's Belsize Park. "And we might be better, and still be able to give to each other, but not necessarily living together. Which we did by the way, because everyone seemed to think we didn't, but that was a load of myth."

E Online said that the pair first met during the set of Burton's 2001 remake of the movie "Planet of the Apes". The couple were never married and on Dec. 23, 2014, they made the announcement the they are "separated amicably earlier this year and have continued to be friends and co-parent their children," daughter Nell, 7 and son Billy, 11.

Meanwhile, Helena is getting ready to release her latest movie, "Suffragette", which talks about the suffrage movement during the late 19th up to early 20th century. The film will be in theaters on Oct. 23.

Many fans admire Helena Bonham Carter for her courage in moving on after her split with Tim Burton. While some supporters believe that the couple are not meant to be together forever, others are still hoping that there will be a chance to see the pair continue their special relationship.
