On Tuesday, reports sprung out that another Japanese anime will have its own American movie adaptation of "Death Note". Now, the lead role has found the actor suited for the character.

According to Deadline, Nat Wolff who is currently casting in "The Intern" is in final negotiations for Warner Bros' "Death Note". Adam Wingard has signed to direct the future movie alongside Jeremy Slater (Fantastic Four) as the scriptwriter. The producers are Roy Lee, Dan Li, Jason Hoffs and Masi Oka while Doug Davison and Brian Witten will be the executive producers.

Variety confirmed that the filming for the movie adaptation will start on spring. However, it was not yet announced when the movie will be released. And, it was not specified where the team plans for the setting locations. In the article, it was revealed that Shane Black was formerly attached to be the filmmaker. It was not stated why Black turned down the offer.

The Hollywood Reporter summarized the plot which will be about the student who finds a supernatural notebook that grants him the ability to kill anyone when he writes their names on it. With that, he attempts to rule the world washing out the evil until a cop discovers it and plans to stop him.

"Death Note" is originally a Japanese manga created by Tsugumi Ohba and illustrated by Takeshi Obata. In 2006, the first Japanese anime was aired in Japan. Viz Media has licensed the release of the franchise in North America. Sources say that the first live-action movie adaptation was released in 2008.

Wingard is best known for his indie genre movies "The Guest" and "You're Next". On the other hand, Wolff has previously appeared in John Green's The Fault in our Stars and Paper Towns. He will also be featured in Paul Weitz's "Grandma". In some news, reports say the lead must be taken by an Asian in respect with the culture heritage. But, it seems like the white actor is suited for the role.

Even if he did not qualify as the new Peter Parker, Wolff will be having his first lead role in "Death Note". Do you think he will be capable of the role despite the whitewashing issues?
