Nicki Minaj is applying her entrepreneurial talents to television as she revealed her actions to executive produce and star a comedy series based on the story of her life for ABC Family.
Deadline reported that the untitled series from Aaron Kaplan's Kapital Entertainment is about Minaj's pre-superstar experiences in Queens, New York. The Nineties-set show will showcase the Trinidad and Tobago-born star's "vibrant immigrant family and the personal and musical evolution that lead to her eventual rise to stardom."
Minaj is proud and excited to collaborate with amazing people to show the world something that is really special. "This is one of the more unique adventures I've ever embarked on" she added.
Kate Angelo, who is known for "Sex Tape and The Back-Up Plan", will be the one writing the series. The show's pilot is set to be filmed in Queens this December.
Karey Burke of ABC Family's EVP Programming and Development is excited to show the exclusive story Nicki Minaj's life. "Nicki is an international superstar, yet not everyone knows how inspiring and hilarious her true story is, and we can't wait to share it with the world," she said.
Along with this announcement, some fans have started to make suggestions of young girls stars to take on the role said BBC. Among the names put forward was Amandla Stenberg from "The Hunger Games" but Nicki said that she'd "kinda like an unknown" star to play her younger self for the autobiographical show.
This year, Minaj is the only woman to be listed on Forbes "Highest Paid Rap Acts" of 2015, gathering $21 million in a report from Rolling Stone. Aside from her music career, the singer has also found success in the fashion industry (Nicki Minaj Collection at Kmart) and alcohol investments (Myx Moscato).
Many supporters are excited for the outcome of Minaj's latest decision to working with ABC Family for an autobiographical series. Some fans are expecting to see exclusive scenes on this show which is based on the story of Minaj's life. Will the show meet everyone's expectations?
